Google took almost three years to disclose to the open information groupWikiLeaks that it had handed over emails and other digital data belonging to three of its staffers to the US government, under a secret search warrant issued by a federal judge.</div>

WikiLeaks has written to Google’s executive chairman, Eric Schmidt, to protest that the search giant only revealed the warrants last month, having been served them in March 2012. In the letter, WikiLeaks says it is “astonished and disturbed” that Google waited more than two and a half years to notify its subscribers, potentially depriving them of their ability to protect their rights to “privacy, association and freedom from illegal searches”.</div>

The letter, written by WikiLeaks’ New York-based lawyer, Michael Ratner of theCenter For Constitutional Rights, asks Google to list all the materials it provided to the FBI. Ratner also asks whether the California-based company did anything to challenge the warrants and whether it has received any further data demands it has yet to divulge.</div>

Google revealed to WikiLeaks on Christmas Eve – a traditionally quiet news period – that it had responded to a Justice Department order to hand over a catch-all dragnet of digital data including all emails and IP addresses relating to the three staffers. The subjects of the warrants were the investigations editor of WikiLeaks, the British citizen Sarah Harrison; the spokesperson for the organisation, Kristinn Hrafnsson; and Joseph Farrell, one of its senior editors.</div>

When it notified the WikiLeaks employees last month, Google said it had been unable to say anything about the warrants earlier as a gag order had been imposed. Google said the non-disclosure orders had subsequently been lifted, though it did not specify when.</div>

Harrison, who also headsthe Courage Foundation, told the Guardian she was distressed by the thought of government officials gaining access to her private emails. “Knowing that the FBI read the words I wrote to console my mother over a death in the family makes me feel sick,” she said.</div>

She accused Google of helping the US government conceal “the invasion of privacy into a British journalist’s personal email address. Neither Google nor the US government are living up to their own laws or rhetoric in privacy or press protections”.</div>

The court orders cast a data net so wide as to ensnare virtually all digital communications originating from or sent to the three. Google was told to hand over the contents of all their emails, including those sent and received, all draft correspondence and deleted emails. The source and destination addresses of each email, its date and time, and size and length were also included in the dragnet.</div>

The FBI also demanded all records relating to the internet accounts used by the three, including telephone numbers and IP addresses, details of the time and duration of their online activities, and alternative email addresses. Even the credit card or bank account numbers associated with the accounts had to be revealed.</div>

Alexander Abdo, a staff attorney and privacy expert at the American Civil Liberties Union, said the warrants were “shockingly broad” in their catch-all wording.</div>

“This is basically ‘Hand over anything you’ve got on this person’,” he said. “That’s troubling as it’s hard to distinguish what WikiLeaks did in its disclosures from what major newspapers do every single day in speaking to government officials and publishing still-secret information.”</div>

Google has not revealed precisely which documents it handed over by the deadline of April 2012. But it has told the three individuals that it provided “responsive documents pursuant to the Electronic Communications Privacy Act”.</div>

The data grab is believed to be part of an ongoing criminal investigation into WikiLeaks that was launched in 2010 jointly by the US departments of Justice, Defense and State. The investigation followed WikiLeaks’ publication, initially in participation with international news organisations including the Guardian, of hundreds of thousands of US secrets that had been passed to the organisation by the army private Chelsea Manning.</div>

The warrants were issued by a federal judge in the eastern district of Virginia – the jurisdiction in which a grand jury was set up under the criminal investigation into WikiLeaks. The investigation was confirmed to be still active and ongoing as recently as May last year.</div>

Testimony given during the prosecution of Manning indicated that at least seven “founders, owners or managers or WikiLeaks” were put under the FBI spotlight in the wake of Manning’s disclosures. Manning was sentenced to 35 years in military prison for crimes related to the leaks and is currently being held in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.</div>

The WikiLeaks warrants cite alleged violations of the 1917 Espionage Act and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act – the same statutes used to prosecute Manning. The data seizures were approved by a federal magistrate judge, John Anderson, who a year later issued the arrest warrant for the former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden.</div>

Julian Assange, WikiLeaks’ founder and editor-in-chief, said the search warrants were part of a “serious, and seriously wrong attempt to build an alleged ‘conspiracy’ case against me and my staff”. He said that in his view the real conspiracy was “Google rolling over yet again to help the US government violate the constitution – by taking over journalists’ private emails in response to give-us-everything warrants”.</div>

The FBI warrants will be presented to the United Nations human rights council in Geneva on Monday by the Spanish judge Baltasar Garzón, who is director of Assange’s defence team. Assange remains in asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, facing extradition to Sweden following sexual assault and rape allegations that he denies and for which he has never been charged.</div>

Twitter informed Jonsdottir that the US government had asked for access to her messages, allowing her to mount a legal campaign to stop them. In July 2012 an appeals court ruled against Jonsdottir and two other defendants, allowing the Justice Department to keep secret information about its attempts to obtain their information without a warrant.</div>

Created for a postgraduate thesis at ETH university, Zurich, and dubbed Project Anywhere, his proof-of-concept kit conjures a truly immersive digital experience using a smartphone-containing mask, “Inteligloves” and Kinect sensors. “The first thing I realised when I triedOculus Rift was that it’s very believable. In a matter of minutes, in a matter of seconds actually, you lose your connection to reality,” he says. But something was missing, “The first thing I wanted to do was look at my body and look at my hands.” Miltiadis’s setup transports not only your vision but your body to a digital world: while the Kinect sensors track your skeleton, the gloves capture your hand movements. But in developing a convincing virtual reality, new conundrums are produced. Among them, Miltiadis is wary of turning his virtual hands to gun-toting games, believing a potent illusion could bring its own dilemmas. “It stops being a game; it is actually a simulation of reality,” he says.</div>

Instead, Miltiadis believes the setup could be used in myriad applications, from “multiplayer” Skype calls in which participants appear to be physically present, to educational offerings such as the creation of a virtual museum. Indeed, Miltiadis envisages a scenario in which “visitors” download an app to their phone, mount the device in the mask and put on the gloves, allowing them to explore displays, pick up and manipulate exhibits and interact with virtual film installations.</div>

Unlikely, granted, but a real possibility nonetheless in a format that allows a steady gain in momentum – and certainly more so than a month ago.</div>

Collectively and individually this is a watershed for many involved in England cricket, not only the players. The bombshell that was dropped on Alastair Cook before Christmas was absolutely the right decision, not only in the interest of the team but his own. It also demonstrated, albeit belatedly, that no one has an unchallenged right to be in a team if they do not contribute, a strong message that occasionally must be sent out and some forget.</div>

This needs to be the year in which Cook rediscovers the fundamentals of batting that have taken him to the fringe of being the most prolific England batsman of all, before, that is, it all became a little too complicated in pursuit of other goals. Simplicity was key for him, without the time constraints of limited-overs cricket. Right from the moment he stepped from the plane in Nagpur, hotfoot from Antigua, and marked his Test debut with the first of his 25 hundreds, it was obvious that by playing within narrow parameters, in fact the only parameters he had, he had the knowledge of how to score runs, not flamboyantly but with ruthless efficiency.</div>

There was a simplicity to it and with that came an inevitability. He is barely 30 years old and in his prime as an athlete. He will score runs again, bloody-minded many of them no doubt – “answering his critics” as we like to say in this business – but he has to start against West Indies, on the slow pitches against a moderate attack. Score heavily in Antigua, Grenada and Barbados and confidence will flood back, all of which he will need to face the top-class pace attacks of New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, as well as the demands of Pakistan bowlers on the dustbowls of the UAE.</div>

It is time, too, for the England team collectively to progress beyond the youthful stage that comes with rebuilding and play mature cricket. All teams tend to be cyclical and in the past decade, first under Duncan Fletcher and then Andy Flower, England assembled two of the finest in their history.</div>

It really is not that simple to rebuild a team, in all its facets, as one might trade in an old car for a new one. Unfortunately, we live in an age of instant gratification, where patience is no longer considered a virtue.</div>

People demand instant results, an unrealistic expectation that pervades all team sports. This season there have been 33 changes of management in the Football League, a number that may well have increased by the time this is read. Unless there is proper understanding, long-term planning, as opposed to short-term papering over cracks, is not considered an option. However, a team that suffered as badly as did England a year ago in Australia cannot simply dust itself off and get on with things as if nothing happened. Good things have already evolved, though: Gary Ballance, Joe Root, Moeen Ali and Jos Buttler have distinguished themselves in key positions in the Test team, and where previous players appeared irreplaceable.</div>

This is the time then to appreciate that Peter Moores will have a definite vision of how he sees the team evolving. He did not take over a team at the top of its game but one at rock bottom, and he has been building up from that.</div>

Fletcher had a plan and so, too, Flower, each subsequently articulated in Steve James’ award-winning book, <a class=" u-underline" data-component="in-body-link" data-link-name="in body link" href="http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/567516.html" style="-webkit-transition: border-color 0.15s ease-out; background: transparent; border-bottom-color: rgb(220, 220, 220); border-bottom-style: solid; border-bottom-width: 0.0625rem; color: #005689; cursor: pointer; text-decoration: none !important; transition: border-color 0.15s ease-out;" title="">The Plan</a>. So, too, did Moores first time round. However, while acknowledging that this is a team still in its infancy as a unit, there will be a need to show that Moores’ cricketers play the game with purpose and confidence even in adversity. In the final year of Flower’s tenure, the progress of the team plateaued: for Moores now the graph needs to be an upward one and this year will go a long way to defining whether his second tenure is going to be successful.</div>

That the omens are surely good for a belated fix has to be better than no fix at all. The removal of Cook from his one-day shackles – for that is what it had become – was a time coming but immediately the team has a more urgent look to it, and there are some destructive players capable of winning one-off matches, which is what the World Cup boils down to ultimately.</div>

Simultaneously, the Tests that follow will be tough but well within the scope of this team, provided Cook comes back rejuvenated to underpin it. A strong and competitive New Zealand side will challenge them but can be beaten. So, too, Australia later in the summer – if the England bowlers are on top of their game.</div>

And beyond that? Hard to say. New Zealand have shown that Pakistan can be vulnerable, even in their own conditions. South Africa may provide the biggest challenge but in a year’s time, whatever the outcome, the England team will have young cricketers case-hardened in the most fiery furnace they are likely to encounter in their career. That can only be to the good.</div>

The Boss has had a lot of ups and downs. All five members debuted in rotating group Xing, then became to the Boss in March 2010 and promoted two songs. But  by March 2011, the group released its first Japanese song and ended up chart in sixth place on the Oricon Daily Chart. Since then, The Boss primarily promoted on Japanese shows, with occasional ventures to Korea. The group has released several Korean albums, but in 2012 the CEO of The Boss's company, Open World Entertainment, was arrested right before The Boss released its first official album and the album was cancelled. Because they were still signed to a Japanese agency, The Boss continued to promote in Japan.</div>

The Boss has released twelve different albums in Japan, including two video albums and a live album. The Boss's vocal-pop appeals to Japan's audience, and most of the group's albums have charted on Oricon in the top ten. The Boss has yet to release a full Korean studio album, but has released two EPs and four singles, including the latest "Rilla Go!" in 2014. The group admitted that "Rilla Go!" is a change of style from what The Boss has released previously in a last attempt to gain attention in Korea.</div>

SHU-I's so Japanese focused that the group no longer has a Korean website, and their YouTube page primarily posts videos with the members speaking Japanese.</div>

Two of MYNAME's singles appeared in the top ten on Korea's Gaon chart, but the group proved to be much more popular in Japan. They keep flitting back and forth between Korea and Japan; MYNAME's latest album released was "Five Stars" in Japan.</div>

The only girl group on this list is possibly the most popular Korean artist in Japan. Kara's very popular in Korea, but its popularity in Japan is almost absurd. Kara was the first Korean girl group to hold a concert at the Tokyo Dome, and has released seventeen Japanese albums and singles in comparison to the eleven that the girl group has released in Korea. Several of Kara's Japanese albums have gone platinum, two have gone double platinum, and "Super Girl" went triple platinum in 2012.</div>

 Kara's often compared to Girls' Generation when it comes to talking about Japanese success, but Kara's not been one of the top girl groups in Korea since the group spent much of its time in Japan. This changed in 2014, when Kara made a comeback with "Mamma Mia," and the newest member Youngji started gaining popularity on variety shows. Hara also recently gained her own variety show, signifying that the girl group is making a greater attempt to stay in Korea.</div>

Debuting previously as Double B 21 in 2010, Apeace started with 21 members (and went by A-Peace until changing the stylizing) and now has fifteen members, who are split into subgroups: Lapis5, Jade5, and Onyx5. Despite being made up entirely of Korean members, Apeace hasn't released anything in Korea since the 2011 mini-album "We Are The One" prior to changing its name from Double B 21. After the name change, Apeace promoted solely in Japan. Even though Apeace has only promoted in Japan, there have been several Korean songs on their albums. The group's song "Veil" appeared on Billboard's Japan Hot 100 chart in 2014, the first time that the group appeared on that chat.   </div>
